    1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a medium baking dish with butter.

  2. 2. Cut the bread into small cubes and spread them evenly in the greased baking dish.

    3. In a mixing bowl whisk the eggs with sugar, salt and vanilla until smooth.

  4. 4. Whisk in the milk and heavy cream until fully combined to make a loose custard.

  5. Assemble
    5. Pour the custard slowly over the bread cubes, pressing gently so they absorb the liquid. Let sit for several minutes until most of the custard is soaked in.
  6. 6. Dollop small spoonfuls of marmalade all over the soaked bread, then scatter chocolate buttons evenly on top, tucking some between the cubes.

  7. Bake
    7. Place the dish on the center oven rack and bake until puffed, golden on top and just set in the center.
  8. To Serve
    8. Let the pudding cool briefly, then dust the top with powdered sugar and serve warm, scooping portions from the dish.
